The Virtue House was named in honor of James Virtue, one of the founders of Ontario. In fact, in the old days, SW 2nd Street was called Virtue Street. The cottage was built before 1909 and has been remodeled from floor to ceiling.

Fine old eclectic antiques grace the home. A forest green velvet camelback sofa and chair provides supple comfort, while the hand crafted oak buffet (from the Basque House in Jordan Valley) provides an example of fine craftsmanship of yesteryears.

Although the home reflects the quiet and comfort of one hundred years ago, the amenities are modern. Push button climate control offers instance relief on those warm summer days or cold winter nights in Eastern Oregon.

Sleeping accommodations offer either twins or a king size bed. The bathroom has both an ex-large shower or porcelain claw footed tub for those long pleasurable soaks. In the summer, many fruits, vegetables and flowers will be offered fresh from the Virtue House organic gardens.
